3. Sage by Heston Blumenthal the Kinetix Control Blender

4.7 Stars (4.7 / 5)

[button-yellow url=”″ target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]When you see that Heston Blumenthal has put his name to a smoothie maker you expect a machine both functional and innovative and the Sage by Heston Blumenthal the Kinetix Control Blender certainly fulfils all expectations.

Sage by Heston Blumenthal the Kinetix Control BlenderIt definitely looks the part.  It has a sophisticated, streamlined appearance.  The solid base is finished in silver and it is machine you would be happy to leave on display in your kitchen. To make it strong and durable, molten metal has been cast in one thick moulded piece to give professional grade die cast construction.

You get a large 1.5 litre uniquely designed shatterproof jug.  It’s as heavy as some as it is made from super tough triton plastic that is BPA free.   The lid seals veryfirmly shut and has a funnel to add ingredients while blending.

The main innovation Heston Blumenthal has come up with are the blades. The trademarked Kinetix blades are made from heavy-duty serrated stainless steel.  They will easily handle ingredients ranging from potatoes to fruit.  It is specifically designed to turn ice into snow in seconds as Heston Blumenthal believes that blended ice not only cools the drink down faster, it improves the emulsification of the drink to even out the texture, which in many cases, improves the flavour.

The main problem Heston Blumenthal found with blenders was that they didn’t blend evenly, the ingredients on top needed to be pulled down to the bottom.  To fix that, this smoothie maker has a set of long, wide, sweeping blades that curve along the sides of the jug and scrape up all the contents from the bottom and push them towards the centre. In the middle, a second set of more traditional blades pull the mixture down so everything gets thoroughly mixed.

The base has nine buttons but they are all clearly labelled and easy to use.  You have a choice of five different speeds, plus a pulse button if you need an extra boost. There’s also an LCD timer that displays the speed of the blades, giving you full control. The pre-programmed settings programs count themsleves down for 60 seconds and turn the machine off when they are finished.  The 750W motor runs quietly so you don’t have to worry about noise.

There are a few shortcomings to consider though. Some are concerned that the blades can’t be detached from the motor, making thorough cleaning harder.  The other major complaint is the texture of the smoothies.  Heston Blumenthal likes his smoothies thick. If you prefer your smoothies smooth enough to suck through a straw you will be disappointed with this blender.

The Sage by Heston Blumenthal the Kinetix Control Blender combines the functionality of a powerful blender with some food processing tasks for versatility and convenience.  While not quite as versatile as the Vitamix Total Nutrition Center Blender it is cheaper.  It does the jobs it is designed to do very well and it is one of the best smoothie makers available.

4. Salter EK2154 Multi-Purpose Blender Pro

4.5 Stars (4.5 / 5)

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]Salter bring over 200 years of experience producing quality products and you can be confident that the EK2154 Multi-Purpose Blender Pro is no exception.

The blades and the shape of the jug are designed to direct the mixture downwards and inwards, ensuring that everything gets fully blended.

The EK2154 Multi-Purpose Blender Pro is a elegant machine with smooth curves to break up the lines.  It comes is a choice of silver or red, with a black control panel.  The jug is generously sized for any family with a capacity of 2 litres.  The jug has a solid handle with a ridged gripping panel for ease of use.  The lid fits firmly and has a small filler cap so ingredients can be added during use.  The strong plastic of the jug is BPA-free for peace of mind.

Salter have remembered to make cleaning up afterwards as easy as possible.  If possible, the parts detach and are completely dishwasher safe. To help further, they have included a handy plunger that can be used to release ingredients from the sides of the jug, unclog the blade and get into every nook and cranny.

The main complaint is that the EK2154 Multi-Purpose Blender Pro is quite loud, especially compared to similar models.  However, most people are happy to put up with a bit of extra noise as it is produced by such a powerful motor.

The EK2154 Multi-Purpose Blender Pro is one of the most powerful smoothie makers you can buy.  You can make a smoothie in literally seconds and it can handle everything from nuts to fruit with ease and turn it into a delicious, smooth, nutritious drink.

Best Cheap Smoothie Makers to Buy

1. The Portable Nutribullet 8-Piece Set

4.7 Stars (4.7 / 5)

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]The  NutriBullet is certainly one of the best smoothie makers for anyone on a budget. Originally marketed by High Street TV, it is now one of the most popular smoothie makers available.  Although it is cheaper than some of the other smoothie makers, you won’t be disappointed with the smoothies it produces.

The NutriBullet’s iconic design is sleek and compact, so it will look good in your kitchen without taking up too much room on your counter top.

The NutriBullet may be small but it is powerful.  You get a muscular 600 watt motor with bullet cyclonic action.  This turns the NutriBullet Extractor Blade at an impressive 20,000 rpm.  It is designed to push everything down and through the turbo blades.

Thanks to the thorough job the NutriBullet does of pulverising your ingredients, you don’t miss out on any of the vital nutrients found in seeds and skins that some smoothies don’t break down.  Fruits, vegetables, nuts and even ice are easily handled by the NutriBullet, helping you to get your desired 5-a-day.

This smoothie maker excels at pureeing vegetables into healthy soup and grinding coffee.  It is also proficient at creating pesto and hummus and any other kind of dip you might desire.  And of course it produces delicious smoothies from any ingredient.

The jugs are made from tough, durable BPA free plastic with an easy to remove lid.  The NutriBullet is designed to be incredibly easy to use.  You simply  put your ingredients in the jug and up to the clearly marked fill line.  Next you screw on the blade unit, then lock the jug onto the base and press down to activate.

Cleaning up afterwards is just a simple.  Usually a quick rinse under the hot tap will do the job.  You can also put some water in the jug with a little washing-up liquid and activate the machine.  If more cleaning is required, the NutriBullet parts are completely dishwasher safe.

While slightly noisier than some smoothie makers, the NutriBullet is relatively quiet considering the power of it’s motor.

Included in this set are the base and blade, both a tall and short cup, a handheld comfort lip ring and the instruction book.  In addition, the NutriBullet comes with a helpful cookbook and pocket nutrition guide to help get you started on your healthy diet.

While being simple to use, the manual pulse only has one setting and some would prefer more options. The jug is a generous size but if you have small hands you may find it too large to hold comfortably.  This smoothie maker grinds all your ingredients to a pulp, so some may find their smoothies are not quite as smooth as they would prefer.  As well, some have found that if they are using a large quantity of ingredients, it is necessary to stop and stir the mix to ensure everything is blended.

The NutriBullet is one of the best smoothie makers available in it’s price range.  Simple and straightforward to use, you can create a smoothie in less time than it takes to make a cup of tea, helping you to incorporate nutritious smoothies into your daily diet.

2. Magic Bullet 11-Piece Set

4.4 Stars (4.4 / 5)

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow] The Magic Bullet comes from the same manufacturers that make the NutriBullet and is in many ways very similar.  However the Magic Bullet is more versatile and offers you some extra features you don’t get with the NutriBullet.  The Magic Bullet is not as powerful as the NutriBullet but comes with more accessories and is about half the price.

Costing just £43, the Magic Bullet smoothie maker is cheap and portable, but makes excellent smoothies.

The Magic Bullet is very light and compact, standing only 6 1/2 inches high, so will take up very little space in your kitchen.  It has a silver base and a simple, elegant design.

The motor is only 250 watts, a lot less powerful than most smoothie makers but spins the blades at 10,000 rpm.  However some may prefer this as it is less likely to produce a slushy result.  The smaller motor also means that the machine runs quietly.  Despite it’s small motor it can handle ingredients from fruit to coffee beans.  It can handle a variety of tasks including chopping, blending, grating, grinding, pureeing, whipping, mixing and more.

The Magic Bullet is extremely easy to clean.  If a rinse under the tap isn’t enough to clean the machine, the jugs can be run filled with water and washing up liquid. If even more cleaning is required then everything can be put in the dishwasher.

The full set includes the high torque power base, the stainless steel cross blade unit, a tall cup, a small cup, two comfort lip rings (one with a handle), two stay fresh lids, a steamer/shaker lid and a flip top lid.  You also get a 10-Second recipe book as well as an instruction book.

The Magic Bullet is as straight-forward to use as the NutriBullet and works in a very similar way.  You put your ingredients in the jug, screw on the blade unit, turn it over and lock it onto the blade.  You can press and hold to blend or press and release to pulse.

The main drawback is the lack of power in the motor.  This means it can not break ingredients down as much as the more powerful smoothie makers and it can take longer.  The Magic Bullet is designed to make a single serving and while it is quick and simple to rinse and reuse it is not really practical for a family.  The plastic used for the jugs is not BPA free which may concern some people.

The Magic Bullet is perfect if you want an inexpensive, simple to use smoothie maker.  It is ideal if you want to try improve your diet with smoothies, soups and dips but don’t want something that will take too much of your space and money.

4. Kenwood SB055 Smoothie 2GO

4.1 Stars (4.1 / 5)

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow] The Kenwood SB055 Smoothie 2Go is an exceptional individual smoothie maker for anyone on a budget.  Although very similar to it’s competitors, it offers more control and options when it comes to blending your ingredients.

The motor is only 300 watts but it is powerful enough to cope with fruit, vegetables and ice. The advantage this smoothie maker offers is a dial with a choice of high or low speed blending, plus a pulse option.

The motor is only 300 watts so you can’t expect too much power from it.  As long as you chop your harder ingredients to a reasonable size and don’t run the motor for too long it will perform well.  However, If you ask too much from it, you may find that the motor can overheat.

An ideal individual smoothie maker with a bit extra flexibility and control.  More than worth the asking price, especially as you get two sturdy travel mugs with lids.

Things to Consider Before You Buy

There are such a wide range of smoothie makers available that it can get confusing trying to work out what the differences between the different models are. Only you can know exactly how you will use your machine and what will be the best smoothie maker for you but here are some useful tips.

How much to spend – As with most things, you get what you pay for!  The best smoothie makers in our reviews above are exactly like the ones you will find in a restaurant.  They are excellent at their job and extremely durable. If you are going to be using your smoothie maker constantly then it is worth paying the extra money and getting the commercial grade machine.

However, if you are going to be using your smoothie makers occasionally then a cheaper, more basic model would probably be the better option.

Do you need extra features – Obviously, all smoothie makers will make you a great smoothie.  But some models can do more than that.

A machine with extra features can expand your range of healthy eating to include ice cream, soups, and much more. A multi-purpose smoothie maker can take the place of a blender and may end up saving you space and money in the long run.

Jug sizes – when it comes to jug size you have a lot of options.  Some smoothie makers can just do one cup or you could make two litres.  When trying to decide which will be the best smoothie maker for you, you have to stop and think about how you will use it.

If you live alone or you are the only person in your family trying to improve your health, then a smaller model is probably more practical. You also have to consider where you will store the smoothie maker when it is not in use.  Obviously, the models with the smaller jugs take up less space.  However, if you have a big family or a big kitchen, a big jug might be more suitable for your needs

Everyday practicality – Some smoothie makers look amazing but try not be distracted by this.  Instead, consider whether is the model you like is designed to be durable and will it do what you want.  Here are a couple of basic things to look:

Check the feed tube – is it going to be wide enough for the kind of fruit and veg you like?  Some models don’t even have a feed tube!

Do the blades come out to make it easy to clean? If not, how difficult is it going to be to clean out? If you hate washing up, is it dishwasher safe? Will you have to buy special equipment to clean your machine?

Hopefully, our reviews will help you answer all these vital questions!

Top 3 Panini Sandwich Makers

1. Breville VST026 4 Slice Sandwich Press

4.6 Stars (4.6 / 5)

The Breville VST026 is a 4 slice Panini maker and at £39, it is definitely one of the best products on this list.[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]Out of all the different products we tested, the Breville VST026 sandwich maker was easily our favourite. It looks quite stylish and should easily blend into your kitchen. The material used is stainless steel, and there is a nice silver finish.

It’s also quite big so there is plenty of space and you can make up to 4 sandwiches at once.

Focaccia and Ciabatta breads can be used due to the “floating” hinged lid, so you can make hot and delicious toasted Panini’s in less than 5 minutes. The top plate can be easily adjusted as well, so using breads that are thicker is not an issue at all.

Topping wise, you can do pretty much anything, from cheese to chicken and steak. It heats the sandwich very well so you don’t get any cold meat.

The non-stick aluminium plates make it incredibly easy to clean up afterwards, so you can enjoy your delicious sandwiches instead of thinking about cleaning up. You also don’t need to butter the bread or put in any oil at all.

You certainly don’t need to be an experienced cook to use this maker. There are only 2 indicator lights: power-on and ready-to-cook, which makes it very easy for anyone to use.

All you do is put on your preferred ingredients, put the sandwich inside and leave for a couple of minutes.

Once you’re done, simply wipe with a soft damp dishcloth. It really is that easy.

There is a locking mechanism, so you store it upright when not in use, saving space in your kitchen.

Overall, costing just under £40, we absolutely loved the Breville VST026 Panini maker. It is so convenient and easy to use, and makes an absolutely delicious sandwich. We highly recommend it!

2. Breville VST025 Sandwich Press

4.6 Stars (4.6 / 5)

The Breville VST025 is the smaller version of the VST026, but apart from that, it is identical and makes a delicious Panini.[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]This is basically a smaller and cheaper version of the Breville VST026 we discuss above.

Instead of 4 sandwiches, this one can only make 2 big or 3 normal sized ones.

It’s a little bit cheaper at under £30, so if you don’t plan on using it on a daily basis and want to save as much money as possible, this is definitely a viable option.

The build quality is sturdy and the design is exactly the same. It’s made of stainless steel, and the silver finish looks stylish.

The “floating” hinged lid still exists and the adjustable plate again helps to accommodate different types of breads.

The same flat non-stick plates are built-in making it easy to clean up afterwards.

Like the VST026, there is a cool-touch handle to easily open it and the non-slip feet ensure it stays in place.

Priced at under £30, this is an excellent Panini sandwich maker and identical to the VST026, apart from the size. The end result was delicious, which is why we highly advise you to get this if you want a small sized sandwich maker.

Having tested it ourselves, we can confirm that it does indeed make a very nice Panini, as well as other toasted sandwiched.

At £35, it is not the cheapest option on this list. However, George Foreman is known for its high quality appliances so you certainly won’t be disappointed.

Cheap Panini Maker Reviews

1. Andrew James Sandwich Press

4.3 Stars (4.3 / 5)

The Andrew James Panini Sandwich Press costs just under £30 and could be an excellent addition to your kitchen.[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]If you want a good quality Panini maker, but don’t want to spend too much money, the Andrew James sandwich press is a very good option.

Priced at £29.99, it is made of stainless steel and looks nice.

The size and surface is actually quite large, so you can make 4 sandwiches at once.

You can use Ciabatta and Focaccia bread easily to make your sandwiches in this maker. On top of that, the hinged lid lets you cook no matter what the thickness of the bread is, making it perfect for a chunky Panini.

The cooking plates are non-stick, making it very easy to clean up once you’re done. All the fat and grease is channeled away thanks to the ridged plates and you get beautiful grill lines on your food.

It’s very easy to use as well, with just power and ready light indicators on the front. It is thermostatically controlled, preventing food from overcooking and ensuring an evenly cooked sandwich.

You can use this to grill all kinds of meat, but we solely tried making a Panini and it turned out to be delicious.

At under £30, this is a bargain and might be a very good option for someone.

2. Russell Hobbs 17888 3-in-1

4.2 Stars (4.2 / 5)

The Russell Hobbs 17888 is a bargain at £25 and makes some very tasty Panini's.[button-yellow url=”″ target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]Costing just under £25, we were impressed by the Russell Hobbs 17888.

It’s not great at grilling meat, but it makes a mean Panini, which is exactly what we’re looking to find.

It’s quite large so you could possibly fit up to 4 sandwiches onto the surfacing area.

It has an interesting feature, where you can open it 180 degrees into a griddle position. This lets you cook vegetables very easily.

The adjustable hinge is perfect when making sandwiches of varying thickness.

The grilling plates are also non-stick, which is ideal when cleaning up afterwards. The addition of the built-in drip tray is handy as well, as this basically gets rid of all the excess fat and grease.

Overall, the Russell Hobbs 17888 is an excellent machine for making very tasty sandwiches and Panini’s. It’s not amazing for grilling meat, but at under £25, it is a very convenient appliance to have in your kitchen.

Buying a Panini Maker: Considerations

Before getting your wallet out, there are a couple of important factors to consider. These are as follows:

  • There are a number of factors you need to consider before purchasing a new Panini sandwich maker.Price: For obvious reasons, the price is most likely going to be the major factor. You don’t need to spend a fortune in order to make good quality sandwiches. On this list, we have a maker that costs £40 and one that cost less than £25. However, they all work very well, as we wanted to ensure our readers get the best value for their hard-earned money.
  • Size: How often will you be making sandwiches and how many people are in your household? There are some products, which let you make up to 4 sandwiches at once, and others, which only let you make 2. You also need to consider how much space you have on your kitchen counter.
  • Features: It’s important to ensure that the maker you’re buying has a “floating” hinge, as this lets you easily make sandwiches no matter how thick the bread. You might also want something that looks great and blends in your kitchen. Some options also have non-stick plates to ensure easy cleaning at the end.

To finish things off, let’s just say that all of the options on this list are excellent if you want to make a delicious Panini.

Our aim was to find a sandwich maker that performed very well and didn’t break the bank.

We tested a variety of different products in great detail and found these to be the very best on the market in this price range

Now, you need to look at each machine and decide on which features are important to you. If you don’t have a particular budget in mind, we would recommend the Breville VST026. It has a large surface area and performs very well. It is, in our opinion, the best Panini maker in this price range.

On the other hand, if you want something that costs around £20, the Russell Hobbs 17888 is a very good option and will no doubt hold a permanent place on your kitchen counter.

We hope you liked these reviews, but if you have any questions, make sure to let us know.

Halogen Ovens Kitchen

Finding the Best Halogen Oven UK 2017

If you're looking for the best halogen oven on the market right now, have a read through this detailed guide. When you see a halogen oven for the very first time, it’s highly probable that you’re going to be highly unimpressed.

To be fair, it is a relatively low-tech kitchen appliance and one that most of us in the UK haven’t even heard of yet. I say low-tech because on first impression, it’ll literally seem like you’re cooking your Sunday roast in a glass bowl.

However, there’s a lot more to this than what meets the eye at first glance. While we’ll discuss the functionality aspect in detail a little bit later, it’s important to note that this appliance uses halogen-heating elements to cook the food. As a result of the heat intensity, the food can be cooked thoroughly and very quickly when compared to your conventional oven.

There are several advantages of these cookers and again, these will be discussed shortly.

If you’re reading this guide, then your main aim is to find the best halogen oven available to buy in 2015.

In order to rate the best cookers, our team tested almost every halogen cooker available on the UK market. We also took account of several reviews shared to us by current and past users.

As a consequence, we ranked the top 5 halogen models as outlined below. Along with the overall quality, we also considered which oven offered the best value.

Let’s take a look at the results.

5 of the Best Halogen Oven Reviews

1. Andrew James 12 LTR Premium

4.7 Stars (4.7 / 5)
This Andrew James 12 litre halogen cooker works brilliantly and looks stylish.
[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]If you haven’t heard of Andrew James before then you should note that this is a UK-based brand and their products are almost always associated with excellent quality.

In addition to this, they always seem to receive near perfect reviews. This can also be said for this halogen oven.

When it comes to the build quality and design, this model was one of the best we came across. It seemed to be quite sturdy and certainly made from high quality materials.

One particular advantage to note is the fact that this model comes with a hinged lid. This means that there shouldn’t be any problems or strain commonly associated with lifting and putting away a relatively heavy glass lid.

The design was in resemblance to the other cookers though you do get a choice between black, white and red colours. This choice of colour might make the decision a bit easier for some individuals.

In terms of performance, this model is particularly impressive. Usually, a halogen model has various advantages over a conventional oven. One of these is the speed with which the food is cooked. This is something that we noticed greatly with this model.

You can literally cook anything that you’d normally put in the oven but at a far greater speed and that too without compromising the taste and quality of the food.

We found the heat and digital settings to be extremely accurate and the oven could be warmed up to the desired temperature within minutes.

In addition to the excellent performance that saved time and money, the overall appearance and taste of the food was excellent. The combination of these factors really impressed us.

This halogen cookier will also save a lot of space in the kitchen as you could actually get rid of some of your other kitchen appliances, as this will confidently replace most of them.

One particular problem that we anticipated was the cleaning aspect. However, this was made simple with the self-clean feature that allows the machine to wash and dry itself in the most perfect manner.

In overview, you’re looking at possibly the best halogen oven that’s available right now and is probably a lot cheaper than most other fancy appliances. We were really impressed by the performance and some of the features that will bring about a great degree of convenience in the kitchen.

2. Russell Hobbs 18537

4.2 Stars (4.2 / 5)
The Russell Hobbs 18537 is easily one of the best halogen ovens available on the market right now.
[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]Just like the Andrew James cooker above, the Russell Hobbs 18537 is another top performing product. While this is just as powerful, the capacity is actually 11 Litres. However, you can increase this to 16 Litres by way of an included stainless steel expansion ring. I’d consider this attachment as important but you need to ensure that it’s placed securely.

In terms of the design, this is a relatively attractive halogen oven though it does have some flaws. Firstly, it’s only available in a white colour so you don’t have too much choice as you did with the Andrew James model above.

In addition to this, the lid is unhinged. This means that moving a fairly heavy glass lid can be problematic. You do get a stand for this but again placing it into this stand can be problematic for a new user though you’ll eventually get used to this.

In terms of the performance, this is an efficient product that’ll enable you to do all kinds of jobs. You’ll be able to make your Sunday roast much more efficiently while baking and grilling can also be done with this product. However, when baking, the bread didn’t come out as we’d hoped.

Other than this, we were quite pleased with this particular halogen oven. Again, it has a self-clean feature so this was an easy task after finishing up. An appliance like this will not only save you space in the kitchen but will also be portable enough to move around.

At the end of the day, it’s a very affordable appliance that will successfully conduct all kinds of tasks. It’ll save you time and money on your bills. Due to these factors, I’d say that this would be especially beneficial for those who regular make simple meals and in as little time as possible.

3. Abode 12L G2SHO6001B

4.1 Stars (4.1 / 5)
Considering its £35 price tag, the Abode 12L is one of the top halogen cookers on this list.

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]The Abode G2SH06001B is the halogen oven that takes third place on this top 5 list. On initial inspection, you can easily see that this product is made from high quality material. I personally liked the glossy appearance.

It’s important to note that this product is only available in black colour though this is my favorite colour for kitchen appliances – it just makes your kitchen look a bit suave.

When it comes to the performance, this oven was good but not as amazing as the Andrew James halogen model that took first place.

Firstly, this is less powerful than the previous two models. On top of this, like the Russell Hobbs 18537, this comes with an unhinged lid. This may feel heavy when you’re filling up the glass bowl.

While testing this, we did find it to be quite effective in cooking pretty much everything. But again, the fact that there is less power may delay you just a little bit.

In addition to the power, this particular model doesn’t come with a self-clean feature like the previous two products. This may make the cleaning process a little more challenging. You can always clean it by hand or wash the attachments in a dishwasher though this will require a little more work on your part.

Even though it seems like there are quite a few flaws with this halogen oven, it’s important to note the difference in price between this and the other products. I would consider this to be quite cheap and this is arguably the best halogen oven at this price, but whether you buy this or not will depend entirely on you and your budget.

4. VonShef 07/021 Premium

4.1 Stars (4.1 / 5)
If you're wondering whether halogen ovens are any good, you should check out the VonShef 07/021 Premium.
[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]The VonShef 07/21 is another halogen oven that has received some terrific reviews from critics and customers alike. It certainly performed well enough to impress us.

After comparing it to various other products, we noticed that this model was the cheapest one from others with the same features and specifications.

We found the design to be quite plain and it’s certainly not going to stand out as being some kind of latest hi-tech kitchen appliance. The good thing is that it will still get the majority of your cooking done. It even comes with a recipe book that will provide you with some insight on what to try.

Regardless of whether you’ve got a baking, frying, roasting or steaming task assigned to you, you can be confident that this will perform the task quite efficiently. This will be aided by some excellent settings that include a defrosting feature, which will enable you to place food into the cooker straight from the freezer.

For such a cheap halogen cooker, we were pleased to see that the capacity of the bowl was excellent and stood at 12 Litres. Additionally, this is quite a powerful unit, another factor that pleased us.

Perhaps one of the bigger advantages we noticed was the self-clean function. This was absent in the more costly Abode model above so this was quite a surprise. Most customers will certainly appreciate it as it makes the cleaning process very easy and timesaving.

In overview, this is one of the best halogen cookers we came across especially after we considered how cheap it was. It looked quite good, performed very well and comes with a wide range of additional accessories.

5. VonShef 07/022 7 Litre Premium

3.9 Stars (3.9 / 5)
This VonShef 07/022 halogen oven review should help you understand better how good this product actually is.
[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]The final halogen oven on our list is the VonShef 07/022, a model that’s perhaps unsuitable for most families. In fact, this only has a 7 Litre capacity and we’ve only included this for individuals who may not want a large capacity oven.

As you can expect due to the size, this is quite cheap but at the same time, it’s still a top product.

In terms of the performance, this cooker is very easy to use and comes with a 2-year warranty. It also uses less energy than other models, which will be beneficial for your bills.

To be honest, in terms of the appearance and performance, the 07/022 is very similar to the VonShef 07/021 we’ve discussed above.

The main difference is the smaller size and this should make it more suitable for a family of one or two people. After all, if you’re alone or have a small family, why would you want to waste your money on higher bills associated with a large conventional oven?

It’s something to think about because this cooker will essentially do the exact same job as a conventional oven. The best part is that it’s extremely affordable and the build quality is good enough to ensure that it lasts for at least a few years. If it doesn’t then at least there’s a 2-year warranty to protect you!

What are Halogen Cookers and how do they Work?

These halogen oven reviews should help you in making an informed decision on your next purchase. In simple terms, this type of cooker is a counter-top oven that does exactly the same job as a conventional oven. In addition to this, it’s a very affordable kitchen appliance and one that will cost very little to run. It’ll certainly be more efficient than a proper large-size oven.

In terms of the design, we typically have a glass bowl with a lid that has a halogen bulb integrated into it. Once the lid is closed off, we can use the settings to turn the system on. This will light the bulb thereby generating infrared waves that heat the air within the glass bowl. The consistent circulation of this hot air will ensure that the food is cooked thoroughly and evenly.

This function will allow the cooker to resemble a conventional oven. In fact, it holds several advantages over a conventional appliance.

Firstly, we’re all aware of the energy-saving efficiency that will allow you to save quite a bit on bills. The good thing is that a halogen oven will still allow you to cook a meal for up to 6 people at a time and at a quicker rate.

Even better is the fact that you can place different ingredients into the bowl and they’ll still cook nicely. This feature will ensure your Sunday roast is simple and very quick to make!

We also need to remember that this is a very compact appliance that won’t take up too much space in your kitchen. Heck, you can even move it around if you wish!

Another positive point about these handy gadgets is that they can make all kinds of foods. This means that you can roast, grill, bake and even steam your food. It really is an all-in-one appliance. How convenient right?

Perhaps the best part is the extremely affordable price though! At a time when kitchen appliances are costing hundreds and even thousands of pounds, it’s good to know that the Andrew James model that topped the list will only cost you around £49.99!

Halogen Cooking – Is it Safe?

Our list of detailed halogen ovens reviews are a good starting point if you're looking to buy this handy kitchen appliance. There are two different ways of looking at this part of the argument and we’ll discuss both of these now.

Firstly, you might be curious about any ill effects of cooking food using infrared heating. There’s been a lot of scientific research carried out regarding this and the good news here is that there hasn’t been any links to health problems. This means that you can use the halogen oven without worrying too much about the safety aspects.

However, you do need to worry about how you handle the appliance when it’s in use. It’s important to exercise caution and use gloves every time you handle any part of the halogen cooker. The lid is one part that can burn your fingers when it’s hot.

Furthermore, when there are children at home, you need to ensure that the cooker is appropriately stored and no one mishandles extremely hot areas of the cooker.

So are halogen cookers any good?

Well, essentially you’re looking at a relatively new appliance and one that oozes convenience, time and energy efficiency. On top of that it’s extremely affordable.

So yeah, they’re pretty good!

But which one should you go for?

In my opinion, the Andrew James 12 LTR Premium was the one that impressed us the most. It was extremely efficient and cooked food almost perfectly. The feature that edged it for this particular model was the hinged lid that’ll ensure that everything goes smoothly in the kitchen. We found it to be the best halogen oven out of all of the different options that we tested.

At the end of the day, all of the products on the list can be associated with excellent quality and an great affordability factor. Choosing the right one will depend entirely on how much money you’re willing to spend.

Best Coffee Grinder Reviews

1. Baratza Encore – Conical Burr

4.5 Stars (4.5 / 5)

The Baratza Encore is a conical burr grinder and performs brilliantly.
[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]The Encore is the best coffee bean grinder for your home. It is simple, both in appearance and usability.

It’s stylish and will look great on your kitchen countertop. There’s no timer, but just an on-off switch.

The capacity of the bean hopper is quite large at 8 oz (227g) and the grind speeds range from 0.8 to 1.1 grams per second.

You have access to over 40 grind settings, ranging from fine to coarse. We found them to be quite accurate, and fine enough for an espresso.

At the same time, you can use it with a range of methods, including French Press and Aeropress. It takes a little while to get used to, but with a bit of experimentation, you will find what works best for you.

It’s important to point out that this is a burr coffee grinder, and not a blade one. This leads to plenty of advantages, including a more consistent grind. It also generates less heat and is a lot quieter.

Overall, the Baratza Encore is an excellent coffee bean grinder and improved the taste of our cup of coffee considerably. It is one of the best options available for the UK market.

It’s certainly not cheap at £125, but if you love a good cup of coffee and like to experiment daily, it is a great appliance to have in your kitchen.

2. Bodum Bistro – Conical Burr

4.4 Stars (4.4 / 5)

Priced at under £70, the Bodum Bistro is a very high quality grinder and has a very powerful motor.
[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]Priced at under £70, the Bodum Bistro is a bit of a bargain.

It comes in a variety of different colours, which should make it easier to fit in with your kitchen. It’s a well-built coffee grinder and this is quite clear upon first inspection.

There is a built-in preset timer, which is handy when you need to grind an exact amount of beans.

The built-in stainless steel conical burrs are used for the grinding, and this helps to preserve the intrinsic flavour and aroma of the coffee beans.

We were quite impressed with the results. The grind turned out to be very good to use in conjunction with a a Gaggia Classic.

It will take some time getting used to, but with some practice and experimentation, the espresso setting works quite well. If you’re going to be using it with a filter machine, this will do a great job as well.

The adjustable grind feature is perfect for switching between an espresso or a french press. The included friction clutch is ideal, as it’s prevents damage to the grinding gear.

In terms of capacity, it can hold up to 220g of beans, which is very similar to the more expensive Baratza Encore.

To put it simply, if you want complete control over the quantity of ground produced and the degree of fineness or coarseness, The Bodum Bistro is a great choice. At this price, this is arguably the best coffee grinder out there at the moment.

3. Krups Expert GVX231 – Burr

4.0 Stars (4.0 / 5)

The Krups Expert GVX231 is a very good electric coffee grinder and is quite cheap at £40.
[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]The Krups Expert GVX231 is an excellent appliance and comes with an affordable price tag. Costing just under £40, it is a great way to enjoy freshly ground coffee at home.

It’s certainly not going to win any design awards but it doesn’t look too bad. It should fit in to your kitchen quite nicely, and as long as it works well, who cares right?

Well, in terms of performance, the Krups Expert GVX231 excels. Saying that, it’s important to mention that like all machines, it takes a little while to get used to it. On your first grind, the result might be underwhelming, but with regular experimentation, you can get a perfect espresso, or whichever style of coffee you prefer.

There are over 17 settings available when choosing your level of fineness or coarseness, depending on the brewing method. A handy feature with this machine is the ability to choose how many cups to prepare. With a capacity of 225 grams of beans, you can choose between 2 and 12 cups, which is more than enough for the entire family.

The safety lid is a nice addition and helps to avoid any spills, which makes it very easy to clean up afterwards.

There is one issue with the Krups GVX231. While it performs brilliantly, many people have complained about its build quality and how delicate it is. However, in our opinion, as long as you take good care of it, you shouldn’t have any issues.

At under £40, it’s hard to expect anything more from this. It’s the only good burr grinder that’s available at this price.

Cheap Coffee Grinder Reviews

1. Krups Twin Coffee Mill – Blade

4.4 Stars (4.4 / 5)

The Krups Twin Coffee Mill is an excellent coffee bean grinder and will cost you less than £25.
[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]There is no need to fork out hundreds of pounds in order to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee at home.

This Krups twin blade coffee grinder costs just under £22 but works very well.

It looks simple and elegant so will fit into your kitchen easily, and being of relatively small size, it shouldn’t take up too much space.

It has 2 stainless steel blades, which chop the beans. It won’t work as well as a machine with burrs but remember that there is a significant price difference.

It can hold up to 75g of beans, which should be enough to make around 15 cups of coffee. Compared to others on this list, this is quite low. Nonetheless, 15 cups is still not bad especially, as it’s very easy to quick to use. It gets up to coarse in 8 seconds, medium in 12 seconds and fine in 16 seconds.

As always, you need some practice with the different settings and timings to get the perfect ground. You don’t want it to be too coarse, as the flavours won’t be fully developed. At the same time though, if it’s too fine, it will taste bitter and lack the needed aroma.

Saying that, this product has all the settings you need to get the perfect ground coffee. If it’s an espresso you want, this will grind fine enough.

Thanks to the lid-activated safety switch, you can be sure that it won’t work until the lid is in place, thus avoiding any accidents.

You don’t just need to restrict this machine to grinding beans. It’s actually very good for dry spices as well, so if you’re looking for nicer tasting currys, this is the gizmo you should be looking at.

2. Hario Medium Glass – Hand Grinder (Ceramic Burrs)

4.3 Stars (4.3 / 5)

The Hario Medium Glass is a small and cheap coffee grinder, and has ceramic burrs.
[button-yellow url=”″ target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]The Hario Medium Glass has a simple and elegant design. It’s small and will look great in any modern kitchen. We found the build quality to be very good and can’t see it breaking too quickly.

It is easy to use and has a better grind consistency than an electric blade option. It’s obviously not going to compete against the big hitters on this list but what do you expect for £20?

As you grind by hand, it does take some time and effort but the results are very good. The handle is quite long and comfortable though, so it doesn’t feel difficult. It took us about 2 minutes to grind 15 grams of beans, which should be enough for 3 cups. That’s not bad at all.

The silicone lid works very well to stop beans from jumping out of the hopper and creating a mess.

Obviously, it won’t be as noisy as an electric coffee grinder, which is always good when you’ve just woken up in the morning.

As always, getting the correct grind settings takes some practice, but once you’ve used it for a while, it’s quite easy to get the best use out of it.

Overall, at £20, we cannot fault it. It performs very well and makes it easy for all to enjoy a fresh cup of great-tasting coffee in the early morning.

3. Andrew James Coffee Grinder

4.1 Stars (4.1 / 5)

This Andrew James machine is the last option on our list of the top coffee grinder reviews.
[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]This little machine by Andrew James costs £17, and is a good overall grinder, whether you’re going to be using it for coffee beans, nuts or spices.

The capacity is 70 grams of beans, which should be enough to make around 10 cups.

The stainless steel blades and the powerful motor do a pretty good job, and within 20 seconds, you can grind beans evenly and quickly.

It’s very easy to use, with a simple push button for operation. The top is transparent so you can easily see the progress and decide when to stop.

With the price difference between this and the Krups Twin Mill being minimal, we would recommend the Krups mill if you simply want the best coffee grinder. For spices and nuts, this Andrew James machines is arguably better.

It’s obviously not going to compete against the best burr machines but at £17, we don’t think anyone can expect it to. It’s a very good basic machine and should be good enough for most people.

Important Aspects to Consider

There are a few things to consider before parting with your hard-earned money. You need to read these coffee grinder reviews in detail but here are some things to consider:

  • These are just some of the features you need to consider if you want a high quality grinder for coffee beans.Style: If you want the very best, you should be looking for a burr grinder. These are typically more expensive but work extremely well. The other choice is to buy a blade option, which is a lot cheaper but still works very well. These 2 options are both electric, so if a manual option suits you best, you could opt for that instead.
  • Price: This is arguably the most important aspect to consider when buying anything new. If you want a top model, expect to pay over £100. Cheaper models can be had for under £15, and our list has some very good options.
  • Speed and Bean Capacity: If your home is full of coffee lovers, it’s important to get a product with a large bean capacity and good speed. This will ensure you can quickly and easily make multiple cups of coffee. On the other hand, if you just want something basic for 1 or 2 cups a day, it might be better to save money and get a cheaper option.

We hope this post gave you a good understanding on what features to look out for when buying a new manual or electric grinder.

There are plenty of options available on the market so you will need to consider what your requirements are.

If you don’t mind spending a bit more for a high quality product, the Baratza Encore performs brilliantly and is the top product on our list of the best coffee grinder reviews. However, it will set you back £125, which is not cheap for something that just grinds beans. If you prefer a coffee machine with a built-in grinder, check out this guide.

At the other end, we highly recommend the Krups Twin Mill. It costs under £25, and is an excellent machine. For those of you who don’t want to spend a fortune, this works very well and will let you enjoy a fresh cup of coffee every morning.

Beer Fridges Kitchen

Best Beer Fridge For UK 2017

If you're looking for the best beer fridge out on the market, make sure you take a look at our top 5 list. There’s nothing better than having a chilled beer whilst watching the football game.

It’s a great way to relax and enjoy some quality time.

However, it’s not always possible to have chilled beers at home, which is why you need a beer fridge. A lot of people just don’t have enough space in their home to buy a normal sized fridge. Or, it’s usually full with normal household foods and drinks.

People think a small sized fridge just can’t cool drinks well enough, and this is possibly because of Husky products not performing well, even though they are supposedly dedicated for beer.

We actually tested these ourselves and found it to be the complete opposite. The temperatures on these are simply not cool enough for beer, and we would not recommend them at all.

We have conducted research in great detail and have tested a wide range of different products in order to find the best. Having done all of this, we have compiled a list of the top 5 products, which provide the best value for money.

We have included products of different sizes as well as prices, so you can find something depending on your requirements.

Best Wine and Beer Fridge in the UK

1. Caldura Digital Silent Beer Fridge – 40 Litre

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]

The Caldura Digital is definitely one of the best beer fridges out on the market right now and has a 40 litre capacity. The Caldura Digital is quite large and has a capacity of 40 litres, which is plenty of space to store your drinks.

Priced at under £200, it is certainly not cheap, and is actually the most expensive option on this list. However, it is an excellent quality fridge that is packed with high performing features, and is very similar to those that you see in luxury hotel rooms.

The black colour looks very stylish and the interior LED lights are definitely a nice touch. It’s quite compact, so shouldn’t take up too much space in your room. It can be left standalone, or built into the furniture to save space.

When we first tried it out, it was so silent that we actually thought it wasn’t working properly. This makes it perfect for storage in a bedroom or student accommodation.

It’s important to note that when you first turn it on, it takes a while to cool up, so be patient and give it some time if you think it’s not working. Within about 12 hours, it should be up and running.

In terms of performance, you can set the temperature to between 4 and 10 degrees, This is absolutely ideal for chilled drinks, along with keeping snacks and perishable foods in perfect condition.

The built-in thermostat is tamperproof, so the temperature that you choose actually stays in place forever.

The precision temperature controller makes sure the temperature is stable throughout, which leads to very little electricity consumption. This is ideal if you’re at University and want to keep costs as low as possible.

This fridge also has an auto defrost feature, so you don’t need to worry about cleaning or maintenance.

In terms of size, it’s not bad. The 2 included shelves are adjustable, so you can easily them remove them if you need more space.

It may be a little pricy, but there’s no doubt that this is the best beer fridge out there right now. It has plenty of space for cans, wine bottles, perishables and snacks.

If you don’t mind the high price, we highly recommend this beer fridge.

2. Russell Hobbs Fridge – 45 Litre

[button-yellow url=”″ target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]

This mini beer fridge by Russell Hobbs will cost you just under £90 and cools your drinks very well. This beer chiller fridge by Russell Hobbs is an excellent option at under £90.

The stylish black colour looks great and will fit in anywhere quite easily. You can also opt for the white colour at the same price if you prefer.

It’s compact and doesn’t take up too much space, but still has a large 45 litre capacity. The included icebox has an ice cube tray, and is a very nice addition but it does take away some of the available space. Saying that, there is still sufficient space for a decent amount of drinks and food.

On the side, there is a removable wire shelf as well as a door bottle rack, which is perfect for a bottle of chilled wine and some cans of beer.

The reversible door and adjustable feet let you easily change the layout to suit your requirements.

Now, let’s talk about performance.

We can safely say that this beer fridge keeps drinks ice cold. In fact, even milk stayed chilled for a long time, which is not always possible in a small table top fridge. It holds the perfect temperature at all times, which is excellent considering the £90 price tag.

In terms of noise, we found it to be relatively quiet when in normal use. If you leave it open for some time, it might make some noise, as it goes back down to its normal temperature.

It’s quite efficient as well, and has an A+ energy rating, so you won’t need to worry about excessive electricity bills.

Overall, at this price point, you will struggle to find a better beer fridge than this one by Russell Hobbs.

3. Caldura Compact Mini – 17 Litre

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]

With a capacity of just 17 litres, this cheap small beer fridge by Caldura surprisingly offers a good amount of space for your drinks. This stylish mini fridge by Caldura is the smallest option on our list, measuring less than 14 inches high.

We thought it would be a good idea to include this for people who have very little space available.

It’s compact and lightweight, and has a capacity of just 17 litres. While this might be too little for some people, for those of you who want a small beer fridge that keeps drinks ice cold, this is an excellent option. You can also remove the shelf if you need more space.

It performs very well as well, and can chill down to 4 degrees, which is ideal for all kinds of drinks. The built-in thermostat system stops it from going any lower than this to prevent frost build up.

We didn’t notice any noise whatsoever when in normal use. This is due to the built-in technology, which helps to reduce the cooling fan speed once the temperature has settled.

The interior light is also a nice addition, when you need to grab a drink in the middle of the night, and don’t want to disturb anyone by turning on the main lights.

Priced at just under £70, the Caldura Compact Mini is an absolute bargain and performs brilliantly. It is a bit on the small side, but if you want something just for storing beer and other drinks, this is highly recommended.

The Best Cheap Beer Fridge for your Home

4. ChillQuiet Silent Mini Fridge – 24 Litre

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]

This ChillQuiet wine and beer fridge is whisper quiet, and looks just like a mini bar. This ChillQuiet fridge looks very similar to the standard mini bars that you see in hotel rooms.

Measuring at over 18 inches high, it is compact and has a 24 litre capacity. It might look small but actually offers plenty of space if you plan on using it solely for storing beer and soft drinks.

Heat-pipe technology is in place to ensure that the correct temperature is maintained in order to chill drinks effectively.

The lowest setting is around 5 degrees, which is good enough for keeping beer ice cold. However, it wouldn’t be a good idea to store perishables such as milk in this.

It is extremely silent when in normal use. So, if you’re planning on putting this in your bedroom, don’t hesitate, because there is literally no noise at all.

The interior LED light is soft and doesn’t flash out at you, which is good because there is nothing more annoying than a bright light shining at you in the middle of the night.

Overall, we quite liked this ChillQuiet beer fridge. Costing just under £110, it might not be cheap, but it chills drinks effectively and offers plenty of space without taking up much room.

5. Russell Hobbs RH8WC2 Vertical Bottle and Drinks Cooler

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]

The Russell Hobbs RH8WC2 wine and beer cooler looks elegant and costs less than £100.This drinks cooler is the last option on our list and will set you back just under £75.

It is easily one of the most stylish looking coolers on the market, featuring a modern black vertical design with a glass door. It is eye catching and will great in any kitchen.

This however means that it is very different to all of the options that we have discussed above, as it is basically upright.

It is more suited for storing wine and beer bottles and is not really a traditional mini fridge. We say this because you cannot store snacks or anything else in this.

There are 3 removable wire racks inside, and you can typically store about 12 beer bottles or 8 wine bottles. This is obviously not a huge amount of space, but it is still not bad, especially considering how good this cooler looks.

At some point, you need to decide whether more space or a better design is more important to you.

In terms of temperature, it ranges between 7 to 18 degrees, which should generally be fine for either red or white wine. It chills beers sufficiently as well, although it could be a bit better.

While this is certainly not a bad cooler, we would only recommend it if you’re mainly going to be storing wine bottles.

Even though it stores beer bottles just fine, we would recommend all of the above options over this, as they simply perform better.

Few Things to Consider

Getting hasty when buying something is never a good idea. Here are a few things you need to consider before finalising on which product works best for you.

  • Before buying one of these beer coolers, make sure you consider these factors.Price: With these products, the price does tend to fluctuate. As you can see, we have recommended some products that cost £200, and others that cost under £70. It all depends on the features, brand, capacity and whether you want the best beer fridge or something that just works well.
  • Primary use: Basically, you need to consider what you will be using your new fridge for. If you plan to store beer bottles, snacks and other perishables, you need a cooler that has the correct temperature options. If it doesn’t, perishables such as milk can easily go stale.
  • Size: This obviously depends on how much space you have available at home and if you’re going to be storing a lot of food and drink. If you plenty of space, and will be storing all sorts of foods and drinks, you need a cooler that has a large capacity. If not, we also have some options that have a lower capacity and don’t take up too much space.

Hopefully, this post has now given you a better idea on what sort of beer fridge to buy.

We undertook a lot of research and tested a wide range of different products. We then picked the ones that performed brilliantly and offered the best value for money.

We realise that every person has different requirements and budgets, so it would have been pointless to simply list the most expensive products on the market.

Instead, we have included both types of products. There are some products, which are top of the range and others, which are cheaper. However, the one thing in common between them is that they all perform very well and provide excellent value for money.

What is the best popcorn machine or maker?

If your question is “what is the best popcorn machine or maker?” our answer is, well that is subjective, it depends what you want, check out the list below and you are bound to find the best popcorn machine or maker for your exact needs and budget.

1. Andrew James Red Hot Air Popcorn Maker

4.7 Stars (4.7 / 5)

This Andrew James gadget is arguably the best popcorn maker available on the market right now and fits into your kitchen nicely.[button-yellow url=”″ target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]The first thing we noticed about this popcorn maker from Andrew James was how cheap it is.  However the machine itself belies it’s price and is solidly made and durable.

This Andrew James Hot Air Popcorn Maker is small and compact so it’s not going to take up too much room in your kitchen.  It is 31cms high and very light.  It comes in a choice of red, white or black but we thought the red version was the smartest.

The popcorn maker has a sturdy base with non-slip feet. It features a cool touch technology so you don’t have to worry about burning yourself or the counter-top.

The lid is transparent so you don’t miss out on watching the kernels pop. There is also a handy measuring spoon included.  One scoop makes about 2 litres of popcorn with usually 95% of the kernels popped.

The popcorn maker is powered by a 1200 Watt motor.  It works by circulating hot air to pop the corn so no butter or oil is needed.  There is a simple on and off switch on the side.

If you fancy some extra flavour on your popcorn, the measuring spoon can fit on top of the lid and the hot air used to melt butter, chocolate, caramel or whatever other ingredient you can think of.

To add to the fun, you get four retro cardboard boxes to put your popcorn in.  And for peace of mind, there is a two year warranty.

Andrew James Hot Air Popcorn Maker is quick and powerful which means the popcorn shoots out quite briskly.  Make sure you have a large bowl ready to catch the popcorn or they can fly everywhere.  Some suggest using kitchen paper to funnel the popcorn but if your bowl is big enough this shouldn’t be necessary.

None of the components are dishwasher proof.  However, since this popcorn maker cooks using hot air it doesn’t usually need much more than a quick wipe down.  The only thing that needs to be cleaned is the measuring spoon if you have used it for flavourings.  Unfortunately, there are no recipes or popcorn kernels included.

The manufacturer recommends that after  making two batches you give the machine a ten minute rest to cool down a bit.  However, this popcorn maker produces such a generous amount of popcorn that you will have plenty to eat while you wait!

Such a good quality machine at such a low price makes the Andrew James Hot Air Popcorn Maker probably the best popcorn maker you can buy.

2. Andrew James Classic Retro Hot Air Popcorn Maker

4.5 Stars (4.5 / 5)

The Andrew James Classic Retro popcorn making machine is an absolute bargain at under £20.[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]This popcorn maker is very similar to the model above from the same company.  However it’s stylish design makes it a popular choice.

As the Andrew James Retro Hot Air Popcorn Maker is almost identical to the Andrew James popcorn maker reviewed above we have only highlighted the differences.

This popcorn maker is slightly taller and wider but still reasonably compact and light.

The stylish design is the most obvious change. The only style available is red and stainless steel but the sleek design definitely gives it a retro vibe.

The delivery chute is wider and better directed so this version is slightly better at delivering your popcorn but a large bowl will still be needed.

The outside of this popcorn maker will get hot during use.

The manufacturer suggests only running the popcorn maker for 5 minutes with a 10 minute cool-down.

The Andrew James Retro Hot Air Popcorn Machine is a brilliant, well-priced machine and you may feel that it is worth paying a little extra for a more stylish popcorn machine.

3. Lekue 1-Piece Popcorn Maker

4.5 Stars (4.5 / 5)

This Lekue bowl is one of the best popcorn machines on the market right now.[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]The Lekue 1-Piece Popcorn Maker is a silicone bowl that goes in the microwave.

This popcorn maker is the result of scientific research into the best way to cook popcorn in a mircowave, conducted in collaboration with the Alicia Foundation, a research centre devoted to technological innovation.

The bowl is made from 100% platinum silicone.  This means the heat is confined inside for faster and more efficient corn popping.  It is free from BPA and other harmful materials.  The bowl handily folds up into itself to save on storage.  Just flatten it with your hands and it takes up half the space.

The lid is transparent and designed to float on the popcorn and rise up as the kernels pop.  Both the bowl and lid are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.

This popcorn maker couldn’t be easier to use!  Simply put 50 – 75 grams of popcorn kernels in the bowl (there are measuring lines marked on the bowl), put the lid on and microwave for a few minutes.

If you would like to flavour your popcorn, ingredients can be added before you put it in the microwave. The instruction book includes four film themed recipes to get you started.

On average, 90% of the kernels pop and any that are unpopped can be put back in the microwave for a little longer, making this one of the most efficient popcorn makers available!

Reassuringly, there is a 10-year guarantee included with this popcorn maker.

Care has to be taken when removing the lid to avoid the steam trapped under it.

There is no choice when it comes to colour, red is the only option.

As the bowl is designed to collapse it is not quite as sturdy as a standard bowl

A innovative, well designed product, if you want a microwave popcorn maker this is the best one to get.

4. VonShef Fat-Free Hot Air Popcorn Maker

4.3 Stars (4.3 / 5)

VonShef's new cheap hot air popcorn popper performs brilliantly and makes great-tasting popcorn very quickly.[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”] Find best price[/button-yellow]The VonShef Hot Air Popcorn Maker is one of the bestselling popcorn makers on Amazon.

The VonShef Hot Air Popcorn Maker is one of the cheaper popcorn makers available but also one of the better products.

This popcorn maker has a simple, robust design.  A solid, thick base protects your countertop and provides stability.  The glossy black and grey provides a change from the more popular red.

A powerful 1200 watt motor powers this popcorn maker.  For safety, it has cool-touch housing and it is designed to stop working if it overheats.

The lid is transparent so you have the fun of watching the kernels pop.  The centre of the lid is also a measuring spoon and can be used to melt butter while the popcorn is popping.

Also supplied are four cinema-style boxes and a 500g bag of kernels soyou can get started popping straight away.

Like all hot-air popcorn makers, this machine doesn’t need any oil.  You simply measure out your kernels, drop them in the machine and turn it on.  It doesn’t need pre-heating and popping will start in under 30 seconds.  There is very little wasted, with an estimated 95% of the kernels popped.

Helpfully, it comes with a two year warranty and the customer services are very favourably reviewed.

As it is a hot air popper, The VonShef Hot Air Popcorn Maker can be a bit noisy and it will produce heat.

The chute is well-designed so the popcorn doesn’t fly out quite as randomly as some models but you will need a generously sized bowl to catch it.

It can be annoying if it overheats and cuts out when you are halfway through popping a batch of popcorn.  However, if the manufacturer’s guidelines on running and cooling times are followed this shouldn’t be a problem.

The VonShef Hot Air Popcorn Maker is popular for very good reasons.  It is cheap but well-made. Thought has been put into making sure it is safe and durable.  Everything is included so you can start popping immediately and it produces plenty or delicious popcorn.

5.  Antony Craig Popcorn Maker

If you can afford to spend a bit more then the Antony Craig Popcorn Maker is for you.  It is the closest you are going to get to making cinema popcorn at home.

It looks fantastic.  It has an attractive red and stainless steel retro design.  An interior light can be turned on and off as desired.

The stainless steel kettle in the centre holds 2.5 oz.  It makes over four and a half litres of popcorn at a time.  If you want to make more than one batch, all you need to do is add more ingredients with no cool-down time required.  If you are wanting to make popcorn for a party or a large number of people, this is the machine you need.

Everything is contained inside the case so you don’t have popcorn flying around your kitchen.  Most of the popcorn spills out of the kettle but there is also a handle to tip it so you get every bit.  The plastic tray in the bottom collects all the popcorn and is easily removed so you don’t have to go anywhere near the hot parts of the machine.

A 300 watt motor powers this popcorn maker so it heats up quickly. It is designed with a built in stirring system make sure the popcorn is evenly cooked.  This also means you get very few unpopped kernels.

It’s very straight-forward to use.  First you turn it on to heat up.  To be safe, turn it off while you use the small measuring spoon to put the oil in the kettle in the centre, followed by a large measuring spoon of kernels.  The flap has a plastic handle so you won’t burn your fingers.  You can also add sugar or salt at this point and the stirring system will make sure the popcorn is evenly coated.  Close everything up and turn the machine back on.  Your popcorn will begin popping almost immediately.

The kettle is removable for easy cleaning, as is the tray.  The insides can be wiped down with a damp cloth once the popcorn maker has cooled down.

Included are six popcorn buckets.  It also comes with a year’s warranty.

The main thing is the popcorn is delicious!

The Antony Craig Popcorn Maker is the biggest and heaviest popcorn maker we have reviewed.  It is 43cm high, 25cm wide and 28cm deep.

None of the components are dishwasher safe so you will have to wash them by hand.

Some basic assembly will be needed and it’s may produce a burning smell and a bit of smoke the first time you use it.

It can get hot so it would be prudent to use oven gloves.

You have to use oil so the popcorn isn’t quite as healthy as other cooking methods.

If you can afford the space and money this is the best popcorn maker to get.  It’s fun to watch and  it produces vast quantities of delicious popcorn.

5.  Halogen Popcorn Maker – Home Popcorn Machine by JMP

6.  Joseph Joseph M-Cuisine Portion Popcorn Maker – Orange/Grey Set of 2

If the idea of an individual portion of popcorn appeals then this well-designed popcorn maker is for you.  You get two cups, one orange and one grey.  They are made of high-quality, heat-resistant silicone which is reassuringly BPA free.

The integrated measuring device is a raised circle at the bottom of the cup.  Pour in the kernels until they reach up to the same level as the raised circle.  On average this is about 30 grams.  Since there isn’t a separate measurer you don’t have to worry about losing it!

Simply fold over the flaps at the top so they overlap and put the cup in the microwave.  Keep an eye on it as this popcorn maker is cleverly designed to pop the flaps up when it is ready.  Let it cool for one minute, add any flavourings if desired and your popcorn is ready to eat.

The cups are dishwasher safe so cleaning is easy.

This popcorn maker won’t take up much space in your cupboards – the cups are 14.9 cm high, 10 cm deep and 11 cm long.

Since there’s no oil used in the cooking process you get all the taste and health benefits of freshly popped popcorn!

It’s best to check that the cups will fit in to your microwave.  An internal height of over 15 cm is required.

The cups can get very hot while cooking so make sure you take precautions when taking them out of the microwave.

This popcorn maker is quick and simple to use, cleverly designed and in our opinion the best individual popcorn maker available.

Some Factors to Consider

Before getting your wallet out, you might want to consider these factors:

  • Here are some factors that you need to consider before buying a new popcorn popper for your home.Size: The kettle size can be an important factor and will depend on the space available in your kitchen and the number of people your household. Ultimately though, if you have regular movie nights and have 5-6 people in your family, you might have to consider a machine that has a large kettle size
  • Power: You want a machine that is efficient, quick and powerful. At the same time though, you need to consider what effect it will have on your electricity bills. It is important to consider the wattage each machine has, and in our opinion, it should be at least 600 watts.
  • Price and Guarantee: Price is obviously the major factor when making any decision. There are lots of choices available and due to this, you can expect a high quality machine for less than £20. It might be a good idea to look out for a longer guarantee than the standard 1-year one that comes with most products.
  • Overall Package: Some options have a lid that doubles up a butter-melting cup while others come with a measuring cup. Some include kernels and most include cinema-style boxes. Find out which of these matter most to you and choose accordingly.

Final Thoughts

You should now hopefully have a good idea of what to look out for in a high quality popcorn machine.

We have listed some very good options on this list and can confirm that they work extremely well.

The prices are quite reasonable as well, and considering how just 1 family trip to the cinema can easily cost over £50, some of these options are a bargain.

Each option comes with a wide range of different features so we would highly recommend you decide what your requirements are first.

Once you have done that, choosing the best popcorn machine will become a much easier task.

1. Morphy Richards Sauté and Soup Maker 501014

4.7 Stars (4.7 / 5)
Morphy Richards 501014 Saute and Soup Maker

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]The Morphy Richards 501014 soup maker is a superb choice considering its price and that it comes with a sauté function. If even just 1 person in your family loves soup, we can guarantee that the Morphy Richards 501014  will be the most used appliance in your kitchen, it truly is outstanding.

In less than 21 minutes, you can make fresh, nutritious and delicious tasting soup with little effort.

Saute function – simply add bacon, ginger, onions, garlic and spices into the jug, then add the vegetables and stock and you are good to go.

  • Pause function – option to add seasoning during the cooking cycle.
  • Four settings – smooth soup in 21 mins, chunky soup in 28 mins, juice in 2 mins and a blend function to ensure texture is to personal taste.
  • Serves up to four people.
  • Non stick coating – easy to clean.

It is extremely easy to use. Simply add your ingredients oice and choose which setting you prefer.  21 or 28 minutes later and you have delicious home made soup!

One of the things that makes this kitchen appliance stand out is the excellent sauté function which lets you add garlic, spices, onions and anything else you fancy, straight into the jug to improve the flavour before you put in your vegetables.

There is also a pause function, which lets you add seasoning while the soup is still cooking by simply removing the lid, put the lid back on and it resumes. This is a great feature for when a soup calls for ingredients to be added near the end, or if you simply forget to put some of them in and want to fix it without any hassle or losing taste.

The jug has a capacity of 1. 6 liters, which might seem small, but is enough to prepare 4 average sized bowls which means that if it is just you, then you can always freeze the rest for another day.

The Morphy Richards 501014 also has a built-in control panel that is not only easy to use, but looks great too. Its most prominent feature apart from the easily distinguishable buttons is an LED timer that lets you know exactly how much cooking time still remains.

As the Morphy Richards 501014 also has a built-in juice function, you can easily make smoothies and juice drinks for those hot summer days. Win, win, now you do not need extra smoothie makers but we have reviews of those as well if you are interested!

Cleaning is nice and easy thanks to the non stick coating. Simply wash the jug and wipe with out with a soapy sponge or cloth, voila, job done.

Last but not least, the Morphy Richards 501014 comes with a 2 year warranty, which gives you huge confidence in the product and getting your money out of it.

If I was to be really picky, I would say it is a little loud compared others but honestly, this is just me trying to find something bad to say about what is actually a superb soup maker and our number 1 choice.

Throw in the fact you can make smoothies too and we are sold, might be a little on the pricey side but you definitely get what you pay for.  We hope you love it as much as we do.

2. Morphy Richards 48822

4.5 Stars (4.5 / 5)
Morphy Richards 48822 soup maker

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]Morphy Richards 48822 look stylish and is one of the best on the market right now. To put it simply, Morphy Richards 48822 are exactly what you need in your kitchen.

With its striking stainless steel jug and tasteful black finish, the 48822 will compliment the style of any kitchen. With it’s small size, it won’t even take up that much room on your kitchen counter tops, leaving plenty of room for all your other appliances.

The jug has a 1. 6 lire capacity, which is good enough for 4 reasonably sized bowls. The manual says that 6 bowls can be made at one time, but we found it to be more like 4 bowls which is enough for a average size family.

Using it is extremely simple and straightforward, you just need to get your ingredients ready, pop them inside, select the desired setting and in 20-25 minutes you have some great tasting soup.

The different settings available on the Morphy Richards 48822 allow you to choose if you want your soup to be smooth or chunky, both equally delivering fantastic soup. If neither smooth or chunky suit your mood, you can always go for the manual blending option which gives you the ability to tailor the end result to your own specifications.

Even though the nature of stainless steel products do not allow for you to directly see the food as it is being cooked, there is a digital timer which displays how much time has elapsed, giving you peace of mind that everything is cooking just right.

Hot meals only go so far, so when you want to cool off in those hot summer months, the 48822’s superb juicer feature is great to make freshly squeezed juices and smoothies in absolutely no time at all.

One of the most annoying things about cooking is having cleaning everything up afterwards. Thankfully the easy to clean design of this appliance means that all you need to do is wash the jug. It’s hassle free and takes less than 5 minutes.

  • Parts not dishwasher safe
  • Can’t see soup as it cooks or blends
  • Cooking time not adjustable

The included recipe book has about 10 recipes, which is a nice extra to help you get started.

The Morphy Richards 48822 is definitely one of the best right now at this price, and we highly recommend it to everyone, you will not be dissapointed.

3. Cuisinart SSB1U Soup Maker

4.2 Stars (4.2 / 5)
Cuisinart SSB1U Soup Maker

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]Cuisinart are famous for putting a new spin on existing technologies and mixing things up quite a bit and the Cuisinart SSB1U does not break this mold .

We are always very please when companies try to save us time and money by cleverly combining multiple kitchen appliances into one that delivers all equally well, we have been happily surprised by the Cuisinart SSB1U.

Let’s get this out of the way first – yes, this is, in fact, a blender. But how many other blenders can do more than just puree your food?

Sure, you will be able to use it to make a milkshake from time to time, but the main difference between this product and a conventional blender is the fact that it can also simmer, sauté and cook up some great tasting soup in no time at all!

All of this is possible thanks to the non stick cooking plate at the base. All you have to do is add your ingredients and set the machine to sauté.  With an automated stirring function, you do not even have to worry about stirring your soup as it takes care of that for you.  Nifty!

Once everything has been sautéed to perfection, all you need to do is add some water or stock and switch to simmer mode. Finally, to add the finishing touches, the blend function allows you to choose how chunky or smooth you want to make your soup which makes it perfect for everyone.

The Cuisinart SSB1U has a capacity of 1. 75l which means that it is more than big enough to make soup for the whole family and keep it warm for a long time, either by turning on the correct feature on its hotplate, or keeping everything in its thermal glass jug which keeps it warm for quite a while.

  • Quick heating element & non stick cooking plate which boils liquids, browns vegetables, & simmers soups.
  • Stainless steel blades which makes it a great blender if you need one.
  • Blends sauces and hot soups to required consistency, great if you want your soup slightly less chunky or smooth.
  • Add your ingredients anytime you want during the cooking process
  • Also, perfect for making dips dressings purees, sauces, smoothies, cocktails, and crushing ice.

The Cuisinart SSB1U surprises yet again with a self-cleaning function. Simply pour in some water and Fairy Liquid or other dishwasher cleaner, we are not biased, and let the machine take care of the rest.

There’s also a recipe book with a number of different soup recipes to get you started, but we are sure you will want to ‘improve’ these according to your liking or try some of your own time-tested concoctions too.

Customers all seem to be satisfied with the Cuisinart SSB1U’s quality build and functionality but there are a few points they take issue with. The most serious one has to do with how hard it can be to actually clean the thing.

The self cleaning feature does not seem as thorough as people would like, and the fact that the metal blade and hotplate cannot be taken apart without voiding the warranty does not make things any easier.

Another drawback is the lack of safety features, specifically the absence of a mechanism that would prevent the Cuisinart SSB1U from starting when the lid is not secured properly.

  • Jug not dishwasher safe
  • Bulky to store
  • No cleaning brush included

When it comes to quality and convenience, the Cuisinart  SSB1U comes very close to being one of the best automatic soup machines we’ve seen so far.

With no mess, no stress and a lot of alternative uses, you will love using this little machine, especially if you do not have a blender already.

4. Tefal BL841140 Easy Soup Makers

4.2 Stars (4.2 / 5)
Tefal BL841140 Easy Soup with Four Automated Cooking Programmers

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]Another contender in the diverse and health-conscious soup machine world, Tefal has been a well-known manufacturer of quality kitchen appliances and propagator of healthier lifestyle choices, so it is no surprise that they’d have a horse in this race as well. Its name is the BL841140 Easy Soup, and it has a few tricks up its sleeve that might cause you to give it serious consideration.

In essence, this is a jug blender that can make a variety of different dishes without much fuss. Don’t let the soup in its name fool you into believing that’s all it’s good for. With a choice of four different programmes, the Tefal BL841140 can also prepare juices, smoothies, compotes and sauces, all of which is a bonus!

The Tefal  BL841140 is extremely user friendly and straightforward to use – you simply add your ingredients and choose the desired programme, press another button and that’s it, your soup is on its way!  You can now forget about your dish for the next half hour or so and tend to other tasks. Once it is finished, you will hear a beep that lets you know everything is ready to serve.

If you’re expecting guests to arrive later or members of your family don’t all eat at the same time, the BL841140 also has a simmer function that can keep its contents at serving temperatures for up to 40 minutes.

In order to help you with the clean-up, the BL841140 also has a built-in easy-clean function similar to the one we encountered with Cuisinart’s model. Another similarity is the inclusion of a recipe book containing a number of different dishes to try.

Tip:  Can also be used to make smoothies, sauces, porridge, batters, baby food and more

There is also a bonus recipe book containing 30 different soup, smoothie and desert ideas to get you started, but we’re sure you’ll want to tweak those to your liking or try some of your own time-tested concoctions too.

While this machine generally does a good job of actually preparing soup and other dishes, there are a number of things to note. First, there’s no sauté function, meaning that any meat or similar ingredients will need to be pre-cooked if you want to use them in your creations.

  • Parts not dishwasher safe
  • Can’t see soup as it cooks or blends
  • No pause option during programmes

Once it starts cooking, the stainless steel jug and top blender prevent you from seeing exactly what is going on inside. Even though the final result tends to be creamy and delicious, some customers have reported that food can stick to the bottom of the jug and burn.

There’s no way of securing the lid to the rest of the machine, which can make for an unpleasant situation of something happens to knock it over.

Lastly, the easy-clean isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be either, since more often than not residue can still remain after its cycle is complete.

The BL841140 Easy Soup won’t be winning any awards for the greatest any time soon, but it does what it’s supposed to do adequately.

With a number of different options to choose from and a straightforward approach to preparing meals, this is a great kitchen gadget for saving time in the kitchen and helps you to quickly prepare and enjoy healthier food, and with all the time saved from food preparation and cooking, you can now sit back and have a cup of tea.

5. Salter Electric Soup Making Machine

4.1 Stars (4.1 / 5)
Salter Electric Soup Making Machine

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]This Salter gadget is one of the best soup machines on our list of reviews. The Salter is an excellent option and won’t cost you too much.

It is very easy and convenient to use. All you have to do is put in your ingredients of choice and fill the jug with water.

The rest is all automated and requires no effort on your part. This is especially due to the built-in intelligence control feature, which essentially helps to prevent the ingredients from burning and over spilling.

Regardless of if you prefer silky smooth puree or more the chunky style, the Salter has all the settings you need. Bonus, it only takes about 20 minutes to make a great-tasting dish.

Cleaning the machine is easy as well, just be sure to do so straight away, since letting the residue dry will make for a much tougher job later on.

The included recipe book is an added plus for beginners and cooking aficionados alike and has some good recipes that you can adjust to suit your personal preference.

  • Lid is heavy
  • Can only blend very large quantities
  • Butternut squash soup has a watery taste

These appliances lets you choose between a smooth or a chunky soup, but there’s no sauté function – so if you need to cook and brown some ingredients, you’ll need to do this separately. It has a helpful function of pausing if you remove the lid during soup-making, and picking up where it left off when you replace the lid – handy if you’ve forgotten to add an ingredient or two.  If you want a delicious homemade soup made only from fresh ingredients, the Salter is a must have appliance that will save you time both with prep work and with the actual cooking.

Considering its price, it is a very good product and you will get your investment back from this maker in a matter of weeks.

Affordable – Best Soup Makers Reviews

6. Andrew James Automatic 7 in 1 Soup Maker

4.0 Stars (4.0 / 5)
Andrew James 1100 Watt Red 7 in 1 Soup Maker

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]This Andrew James 7-in-1 machine is arguably the best at its price point. Andrew James generally have a reputation for producing good quality and well-made products at a reasonable price, and this 7 in 1 kitchen appliance is no exception.

The first thing you’ll notice when admiring your new purchase is the sturdiness of its build. This really is a solid machine, but in this case that doesn’t mean that its style has been compromised. Even better, it doesn’t take up that much counter space, so you don’t have to pack it up every time you use it.

We tested the Andrew James out by making a few different batches of soup and were honestly very impressed with the results. Not only was the consistency want for a better word, consistent but the soup was always thoroughly cooked and ready to enjoy. You’re sure to love this feature, especially in the cold winter months.

It’s pretty easy to use as well, and requires very little effort. You simply put in all the ingredients and let it run for a while. If you like the dish to be silky smooth, you can expect it to take around 20 minutes.

The chunky setting will take a bit longer at 30 minutes. A filter needs to be used when a chunkier dish is prepared since adjusting the Andrew James to its appropriate setting won’t eliminate the smooth puree effect.

Cleaning is very easy and takes little to no time, which is perfect when you want to dig into your food straightaway.

The Andrew James 7-in-1 is an excellent multi function kitchen tool and can do all of the following extremely well:

  • Prepare and make delicious sauces, cocktails, fruit juices and milkshakes.
  • Grind coffee beans, spices and nuts
  • It can crush ice very easily thanks to its powerful motor and stainless steel cutting blades.
  • Easily make iced lemonades and chilly margaritas.
  • Steam vegetables and other food brilliantly thanks to its steamer basket.
  • Included egg boiler attachment that works great for both hard and soft-boiled eggs.
  • Reheat function, which is perfect for warming drinks.

  • Parts not dishwasher safe
  • No sauté function
  • No stir option

Some users on Amazon have reported that while this kitchen appliance does make excellent soup,  it can struggle blending smoothies with frozen fruit or ice, not a biggy but should be noted if that is what you are looking for.  Another issue reported is that the noise whilst blending is a bit loud and there is a nagging beeping when the cycle is finished but these are not massive negatives that should put you off.

We highly recommend these cheap soup makers, Andrew James honestly produces some excellent options right now.  The Andrew James Automatic Multi-functional 7 in 1 is perfect for small households of 2 to 3 people.  In busy households where time is a scarce but eating right still matters, this multi-functional machine is a must have.  Not only does it make delicious soup in little to no time, it also has plenty of other useful functions and is the perfect kitchen gadget to have in your home.

7. VonShef Automatic Soup Makers

4.0 Stars (4.0 / 5)
VonShef Multifunctional Soup Maker

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]When you consider its price, the VonShef is a very cheap option and comes packed with tons of features. The VonShef multi-functional makers are good options if you want something that performs brilliantly and works effortlessly.

All you have to do is put in your ingredients of choice, choose the right settings and wait for 20-30 minutes. It can make both chunky and smooth style soups and we found the consistency to be excellent.

There is a large 1. 7 liter jug, so you can make between 4-6 reasonably sized bowls, which is perfect for most families.

Your safety is of the highest priority to VonShef, and this is most evident in the over-spill function which, as the name suggests, prevents its contents from spilling out by refusing to run if the lid isn’t attached properly.

VonShef also have plenty of extra features that work well.

  • Can act as a blender for smoothies and milkshakes
  • It’s also a cooker
  • Soya maker
  • Sauce maker
  • Steamer
  • Boiler
  • Reheater
  • Egg Boiler

  • Feels a little flimsy and not well made
  • Not great for making smoothies

For a machine which doesn’t cost much, you don’t really expect these extra features, so we were pleasantly surprised. It really is ridiculously cheap and a great option at this price. We highly recommend it.

8. Tower T12001 Soup Makers

3.6 Stars (3.6 / 5)
Tower T12001 Soup Maker

[button-yellow url=”” target=”_blank” position=”left”]  Find best price[/button-yellow]Last but not least of the soup makers reviews is the Tower T12001, a blender type soup maker that has all the features to satisfy your blending needs whilst also the convenience of making delicious wholesome soups.

At 1100 watts, this is one of the more powerful products we have reviewed. Capable of chopping anything from ice to celery, the Tower T12001 will have no issue taking care of any and all ingredients you throw at it. The Tower T12001 jug holds 1.5 liters of liquid, which is just enough for a small family dinner.

It comes with two sensors, one to prevent overflow and boiling over of your soup and the other alerts you if there is not enough liquid in the appliance. There is also a great 60-minute thermostat which allows you to start the process up and forget about it until your soup is ready to eat.

An interlocking lid ensures that the cooking process does not start unless it is fixed firmly in place.

  • Interlocking lid
  • 60 minute timer dial
  • Pulse option on blend
  • Minimum liquid sensor and an overflow sensor to prevent the content boiling over

One of the biggest issues with the Tower T12001 is its lack of thermostat. The most frequent complaint is that the water simply gets too hot, so the soup often boils instead of simmering as you would hope.

Another issue reported by users, involves the overflow sensors. If the overflow sensors malfunction, you will find that the maker will simply not start as the liquid level is seen as too high/or too full, by the faulty sensors.

Lastly, do you read the instructions that come with these products?  If so, you may be in for a hard time as one of the weaknesses of this otherwise good product is the instruction booklet. As the Tower T12001 is made in the China, the booklet is – it has to be said – awful.  Just a warning and you can get around it with a good recipe book which you will need anyway (or the internet).

At the end of the day, the Tower T12001 is a solid soup maker / blender kitchen appliance that can deliver requirements at a reasonable price. If you do not mind keeping an eye on it whilst cooking, the soup it makes is creamy and in our opinion, delicious.

Factors to Think About

If you want to buy a product that will take up a permanent place on your kitchen counter, think about these factors before making your decision:

Consider these factors before looking for a high quality soup making machine.Product Features: Are you looking for a product that is dedicated to making soups or do you want a kitchen appliance that is multi-functional?

Some of the best soup machines we have reviewed can also work as ice crushers, vegetable steamers, and even coffee grinders, so they are extremely versatile. Whereas, there are some which simply make soup, which is not a problem as that is what you are buying. So, you need to decide before you buy, what is more important for you, lots of functions or one very good one?

Blender vs. soup makers: Apart from having different features, the different types of soup machines have positives and negatives that will undoubtedly make a difference for most consumers.

Blenders have a greater amount of features and can be used to make foods other than soup. However, these tend to be more expensive and some are harder to clean which needs to be considered. Dedicated soup machines are more limited when it comes to features, but they are most often cheaper and simple to use.

However, it should be noted that once the dedicated soup machines start working you more often than not cannot see the cooking process and have to hope that it will do its job the way it is supposed to which mostly they do.

Price: The most important factor for most people, and too right, it should be. It is recommended that you set your budget in advance so you are not swayed by what looks nice or what extra features one machine has over another. There are appliances which we have reviewed that are cheap and others that are expensive, you need to decide on how much you are willing to spend and stick to it.  Do not be swayed by looks alone, some of the best here are not the most expensive on offer!

To sauté or not to sauté?  If you really want to prepare rich, meaty soups without having to use a frying pan for the extra preparation then you want a soup maker that has a sauté feature.

Capacity: Obviously, this depends on how much you need to make. Typically, most will be able to make 4 bowls, however, the best can make 6 bowls, so this might fit your needs better.

Cleaning: Your new soup maker might have reduced the number of pans needed to make your favourite soups, but is it easy to clean? If a particular soup maker does not come with removable parts that are also dishwasher safe, you are inevitably going to have to do some extra cleaning which can be tricky as the space is more confined.  Just something to think about.

Our aim is to help consumers get a better understanding of what features the each of these machines have and there are some truly superb options on the market right now.

We have included and reviewed an extensive range of what we believe to be the best soup makers and have tried to cater to all types of consumers and requirements.
